Strip or tube: sealing the gap at the tub

A Homax caulk strip is pre-shaped and peels off its backing like tape, so you press a bead into place instead of squeezing and tooling one. Width is the choice that matters. The 7/8 inch strip suits a narrow line where a tub or counter meets the wall. The extra wide 1-5/8 inch strip covers a wider gap and has a molded score line that seats it evenly against both surfaces. Both of those come in 11 foot lengths.

The floor and tub strip is a 1-1/4 inch silicone strip, 5 feet long, sized for the joint where flooring runs into a tub or a wall, and it fills a gap of up to 1/4 inch. Measure your joint before you order so one strip runs it without a splice. Old caulk has to come out first, and the remover tool on the caulk shelf has an angled tip for lifting it out of corners. If your gap is wider or uneven, a tube of caulk shaped with the Homax finishing tools is the other route.
