About this product
Torn drywall around an outlet or switch box
Moving an outlet, swapping a box or prying off an old cover plate can leave ragged drywall that the new plate does not hide. The Homax outlet patch is made for that damage around an electrical box, a spot where an ordinary square patch is awkward to fit.
Read the package for how it fits your box before you start. Once it is in place, you finish it the way you finish any wall repair: thin coats of compound, light sanding, primer and paint, then the cover plate goes back on.
The wall patch and drywall shelf holds 14 more products beside the Outlet Patch, and every one belongs to the Homax home repair line.
Before you start
In a house built before 1978 the paint around the hole may contain lead. Do not dry-sand or power-sand old paint until it has been tested, mist the area and clean up with a damp cloth instead of a broom. Drywall dust itself is fine and travels, so sand with a mask on.
