    About this product

Getting joint compound into an inside corner

Inside corners are where drywall finishing goes wrong: a flat knife pulls compound off one side while it smooths the other. The Homax Heavy-Duty Dry Corner Tool is made for that angle. Its beveled straight edges let you fill and smooth both faces of the corner in one pass.

The tool is light yellow plastic with a polystyrene handle. You use it once the tape is bedded, running a smooth coat of compound down the corner. Despite the word dry in its name, it is a drywall tool for wet joint compound, not a floor tool.

    Before you start

In a house built before 1978 the paint around the hole may contain lead. Do not dry-sand or power-sand old paint until it has been tested, mist the area and clean up with a damp cloth instead of a broom. Drywall dust itself is fine and travels, so sand with a mask on.
