    For best results

    • Practice on scrap drywall or cardboard until the blob size looks like your wall.
    • Knock down with light pressure, since a heavy hand smears the blobs into a smooth skin.
    • Read the label before you start, and keep a window open with a fan running while you spray.

    How to use

    1. Step 1Shake the can and spray a test pattern on a sheet of cardboard first.
    2. Step 2Mist spatter over the patch, feathering it past the edges into the old texture.
    3. Step 3Wait until the blobs lose their wet shine, then skim them flat with a wide knife.
    4. Step 4Let the texture dry fully, then paint the whole patched area.

    You have patched a hole in a knockdown wall, and now a smooth square gives the repair away. Homax Knockdown Wall Texture puts spatter back on that square from a 10 oz aerosol. You spray the blobs, let them set for a moment, then drag a wide knife across them so the peaks flatten into the mottled pattern of the wall around them.

    The formula is water-based, so wet spatter wipes off trim and hands with water, and the smell stays mild in a lived-in room. One can reaches up to 30 square feet, which suits a repair or two rather than a whole wall. It sprays medium to heavy knockdown only, so it will not stand in for orange peel. Once the texture is dry, you paint it to match.

    Before you start

    An aerosol texture can is under pressure and its propellant burns: keep it away from open flame and heat while you spray, air the room, and do not leave a can in a hot car or a sunny window. Sanding the patch first raises fine dust, so wear a dust mask and catch it on a drop cloth.
