    For best results

    • Test both grits on a scrap board before you choose one for the room.
    • Wash and dry the wall first, and fill deep holes rather than counting on texture to cover them.

    How to use

    1. Step 1Stir the aggregate slowly into your paint until the grit is evenly spread.
    2. Step 2Load the roller fully and roll in overlapping passes, one section at a time.
    3. Step 3Stir the paint again every few loads so the grit does not settle to the bottom.

    About this product

Sand or stone: choosing the grit before the whole wall

Texture you roll on is hard to undo, so it helps to see both grits before you commit a room. This pair of Homax Roll-On additives gives you Sand, a fine aggregate for a subtle finish, and Stone, a coarse one that leaves a rough surface with a stone-like look. Each one stirs into ordinary paint, so you texture and paint in one pass.

Try each on a sample board or a closet wall and look at it in the light of the room. The fine Sand finish softens small flaws, while Stone hides more, including nail holes and dents. The Stone aggregate is sized for a gallon of paint and is rated at about 100 square feet. Both go on with a regular or a textured roller.

    Before you start

An aerosol texture can is under pressure and its propellant burns: keep it away from open flame and heat while you spray, air the room, and do not leave a can in a hot car or a sunny window. Sanding the patch first raises fine dust, so wear a dust mask and catch it on a drop cloth.
