- Wipe the blade between holes so dried crumbs do not drag lines through the next fill.
- For a crack wider than the blade, finish with a broader knife so the coat blends into the wall.
How to use
How to use
- Step 1Pick up a small dab of compound on the tip of the blade.

- Step 3Let it dry, add a second dab if the fill sank, and sand it smooth.
About this product
Filling nail holes without smearing the whole wall
A wide knife spreads compound far past a nail hole and leaves you more to sand. This Homax knife has a blade only 1-1/2 inches wide, so you can push filler into a single hole or a hairline crack and scrape the surface clean right around it.
Blade and handle are one piece of tough, high-impact polystyrene, light and comfortable in the hand. You can also work wood putty and other pastes with it. Keep a wider knife nearby for the last feathered coat on anything larger than the blade.
If the Putty Knife, 1-1/2 in does not fit your job, the wall patch and drywall shelf has 14 more products from the Homax selection.
Before you start
In a house built before 1978 the paint around the hole may contain lead. Do not dry-sand or power-sand old paint until it has been tested, mist the area and clean up with a damp cloth instead of a broom. Drywall dust itself is fine and travels, so sand with a mask on.
