    For best results

    • Do not scrape or sand the old texture around the patch on an older ceiling until it has been tested for asbestos.
    • Thin bursts give a closer match than one heavy load of texture.

    How to use

    1. Step 1Fix the drywall or fixture opening so the surface is solid and dry.
    2. Step 2Shake the bottle and spray a few test bursts into a cardboard box.
    3. Step 3Spray the patch in short bursts, building chips up until it matches the ceiling.
    4. Step 4Clean out the sprayer after use so it works next time.

    About this product

Patching a small hole in a popcorn ceiling

A popcorn ceiling shows every patch where a light fixture moved or a smoke alarm came down. The Homax Acoustic Texture Touch-Up Kit pairs a hand-operated sprayer with a bottle of premixed popcorn texture. The texture carries real polystyrene chips, so the bumps you spray look like the ones already overhead.

One bottle covers up to 2 square feet, which is right for a patch around a fixture box and too little for a stained section. The sprayer is reusable and refills are sold, so you can keep it for the next repair. It will also spray glitter if your ceiling has some. Repair the drywall itself before you add texture.

    Before you start

Sprayed-on decorative or acoustic ceiling material in an older home can contain asbestos. Do not scrape, sand or wet it until a sample has been tested by an accredited lab, and leave removal of anything that tests positive to a trained contractor.
